Preschool Day Classes
Preschool ballet and tap classes are an excellent introduction to dance for young children, typically ages 2 to 4. These classes are designed to be fun and engaging, offering an outstanding balance between learning foundational dance skills and fostering creativity and imagination.
Ballet is the foundation of many dance styles and is often taught first in preschool dance classes. Children will learn basic ballet positions, such as first position (heels together, toes turned out), and simple ballet movements like pliés, tendus, and relevés. These movements help develop coordination, balance, and flexibility while instilling discipline and body awareness.
Tap dance, on the other hand, introduces children to dance’s rhythmic and percussive aspects. Kids will wear tap shoes with metal plates on the soles, which they use to create different sounds by striking the floor. They will learn basic tap steps, such as shuffles, toe taps, and heel digs, and gradually build upon these steps to create rhythmic patterns and combinations. In addition to the physical benefits of dance, preschool ballet, and tap classes also provide social and emotional development. Children learn to take turns, cooperate with others, and follow instructions while making new friends in a supportive group setting.
